Bride's Pre-Wedding Dinner

Okay... after over a month of delay, I managed to sort out these pix for now.

Here's a live version of our Shanghai Tang inspired theme styling. Everyone was pretty much shocked as I haven't reveal the studio photos to the public yet. The dinner is very modest with 8 tables only and we're separated between the other public patrons by some boards only. The best thing is everyone had fun due to our suprisingly funny looks and I can't stop drawing attention from the public. Hehe...

My bellydancing mate, Carol.

James Chong, co-worker.

My Convent high school buddies with my beloved Art teacher, Mrs Lee.

High school buddies from left: Ming Ling, Ying Ling and Ai Chik.

Dom making fun of my naughty nephew, Darren. Carrying Darren is my youngest sis, Nicole.

My second sis Lily. She's been a real sport for helping out tremendously in this event.

Craziest bunch of peeps I know. My LimKokWing collegemates. From left: Chok Yan, Joe & Joey Woon, Sin Eng, Ben Ben and Din Din. Thank you very much, guys for making to the dinner.

One of my favourite photos coz I just look so darn pin-up. Eat your heart out Betty!

Joe, Joey and Sin pretending to be doing make-up for me.

Entertaining guest. This aunty in white is one of my mom's close friend. The nick we call her is just too funny to forget. We call her 'Pi Po' ( Hokkien for Flat Women). This nick was actually meant for me or my sis coz we have a flat nose. But since we can't discern that it was our nick, we refer her to Pi Po ever since.

My lovely sis, Nicole and Lily

Checking who's still not yet arrive

My sis and bro, Wei Tsun and his gurlfriend, JC (on right)

The seating arrangements. Gosh, Sin, your head is shiny!

Yum Seng!

Yum, yum Seng!

Another one of my favourite photos. Look at Dom's mouth when I'm downing the bottle. Just for the record, I only did this at the LICTians table, coz my Cina Teh decoy had been discovered.

With Dom's family

Just putting this pix coz it got this moody feeling to it.

My funniest relatives. My uncle, aunty and cousins from my mom's side. Didn't think the older folks are game.

With my brother in law, Julian and his gf, Shi Yi.

Sorry to post not that a many pix up... I wanna save the space for THE Wedding Day pix, which I promise you that it'll be a lot funnier.

Busy Beeeee....

Sorry folks for not updating with the pix yet. First, we didn't take that long a leave. We took extra 3 days to rest after the Wedding Day and we're off to work non stop. Also I was in the midst of closing my mag and my vegetarian sidekick had to beat me at my own honeymoon by going to a 3 week vacation to Tokyo. Sux... on my part! No... I haven't gone for my bulan madu yet *pout*. Worse got back to work to get tortured by deadlines and late nights. Was thinking to take some leave after I close (last Friday), but then my soul had been snatched by my AD to work another week of late nights... Super Sux... and nevermind, my remainder sidekick had requested to take this week off (after when she heard AD wanted us to work late), so she could help her sis to sell pork. Well anyway, it's Wednesday already and I had submit my leave quickly for next Weds, Thurs and Fri off.

Am already maybe 20% to sorting out our wedding pix. I will bump the Pre Wedding dinner pix post to a later date to fit into my picture timeline.

Guo Dai Lai (GDL) aka Delivery of Bethrothal Gifts

The dreaded GDL had arrive, which means burning hole in Dom's pocket. I'm not sure actually how many Chinese still follows this tradition but mine is sort of a simplified version of it. T'was a Saturday morning...

Beloved bethrothal had arrived with my gifts (or more of gifts of my mom's requests)

Mom (left) receiving gifts. Dom and his aunts from Johor holding liquer, condiments and Dragon & Phoenix Candle.

Dom looking at my Kah Lui Peng aka Wedding Biscuits.

Me helping my mom arranging the booty at the Sky God altar.

Mom offering fluorescent pink candle to Sky God.

Invite card from the in-laws.

Entertaining Dom's aunt with Seremban's famous SiewPow.

Mom offering joss sticks to Goddess of Mercy.

Mom and Dom trying to disentangle the wicks from the Dragon & Phoenix Candle. According to southern customs, the bride side should keep the Dragon Candle and return the Phoenix Candle to the groom side. Later on the Wedding day, the Candles should be brought together again (what a hassle).

These gifts are to be 'returned' to the groom. Mom says, 'Got come, got go'.

Day ended with lunch at Seremban's Regent Restaurant and Dom driving all the way back to Muar again. Lucky Muar is approximately 2 hours away, I can't imagine those couples who stay like one in Penang an the other Johor *pengsan*.

O'Moon Tang

OK! What your about to see may shock you or others. It's our series of wedding pix which from the beginning we didn't even really put our mind into it. I just knew I don't want any of those cliche Taiwanese styles. And no 'Make believe Princessy' pix in some La La Land posing with my Prince Charming, wearing as what Choen would say, 'A Meringue Dress'. (sorry, no offence to those who like this style, it's just my personal view). I wanted an 'edge' on my pix.

After some thought, I approached Choen Lee to see if he's up to do something crazy with me. I wanted 2 or 3 shots of simple classic and timeless 1940's inspired vintage style portraits with me and Dom. We got engrossed with the concept and our 2 or 3 shots becomes...

*please bear in mind it's not as photo perfect as of those bridal studios as it's really a DIY concept and effort. Concept/Hair/Make-up is by me and Photography by Choen.Visit www.choen.com to view more pix by him.

WY: You know how to tango or not? Keep stepping on my foot.
Dom: (Thinking) Of course tak boleh lar. You see my face also know lor.

WY: Haiyer, you ar... we hafta go dancing tonite and you never practice! This deserves a nipple pinch!
Dom: Aarrrggghh...!

Dom: Ok... I'm leady! I look like Tony Leung, sure kill all those girls.

WY: I think this time can win the Miss Bedak Sejuk contest!

Ready to paint the town red.

Suddenly got riot in town.
Dom: Die you baddies... have a taste of my Tommy Gun...!!!
WY: (Thinking) Wah! Dom so man... I like!

WY: I shall be submissive Asian women now, dear. You're so man!

WY: Sigh! How did I become so genteel?

Dom: Now I can be lan see... bully me...
WY: Don't push it... ah pek!

Dom: Yikes... sei sing pat koi... (old habits die hard)
WY: GET YOU ARSE HERE AND TANGO!

And they live vintagely ever after.

Here's some scene behind the shoot:

ROM at Thean Hou Temple 1st March 2008

It was actually pouring in the morning but managed to get to THT without getting really drenched (only my poor new shoes *sobs*). Was a bit irked by wet shoes and humidity creating havoc on my hair. Dom was having an anxiety attack coz bro-in-law, Rap, who was supposed to be our witness, haven't turned up yet.

My family members

Finally Rap turned up but forgotten his IC. Dom was furious but lucky Temple let us change our witness. So dad-in-law took the duty.

Just before going in to sign the papers. Forgotten what's our number

Was very quiet in there. Everyone so serious.

Smiles of relieve after getting it over with. Me pointing at lipstick mark on Dom which I planted on after the guy say, 'You may kissed the bride'.

The ceremony ended with lunch at our fav Sentul Zhen Liew Xiang.
